OUR TEAM
We are a loosely affiliated group of cardiologists, support staff and industry colleagues who come together from multiple institutions in order to provide cardiac care to indigent patients all over the world. Our membership is predominantly in the United States but we have active partners all over the world.
Tom Piemonte - Chairman
Co-Founder of Project Pacer International with Dr. VK Saini, Tom Piemonte traveled extensively in the developing world, especially with projects to Bolivia and Paraguay. A graduate of Holy Cross and The New York Medical College, Dr. Piedmonte has a primary clinical interest in interventional cardiology and currebtly serves as Director of the Catheterization Laboratory at Lahey Clinic and Medical Center in Burlington, MA
David Martin - President
Originally from London, England David Martin is a cardiac electrophysiologist committed to bringing modern arrhythmia management to the developing world and in creating free access to such therapies for indigent patients. Dr. Martin has been actively participating in Project Pacer missions to South America, Africa and India. He has organized and coordinated many missions to Bolivia, Morocco and Kenya. A medical graduate of the University of London, Dr. Martin serves as the Vice Chairman in the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. His clinical interest are in cardiac pacing, defibrillation, and ablation. He has a deep commitment to medical education at all levels and in any setting.
Adelqui Peralta - Director
Originally from Rosario, Argentina, Dr. Peralta trained in cardiology and electrophysiology at Lahey Clinic and Medical Center in Burlington, MA and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and currently serves as the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Boston VA Healthcare System, West Roxbury Campus. He has extensive experience in cardiac pacing, defibrillation and arrhythmia ablation. He has worked with Project Pacer and other organizations, in missions to Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and India, bringing life-saving arrhythmia therapies, as well as sharing his knowledge with local physicians and medical students.
Anthony Moulton - In Memoriam
Anthony Moulton was a volunteer with Project Pacer for over a decade, having had a pivotal role in organizing medical missions to both Cochabamba and Sucre, Bolivia. He was passionate about helping others and instrumental in providing care to the poor. Due to his heartfelt dedication with our patients, many lives were saved. He will never be forgotten by his Project Pacer colleagues and the people he touched in Bolivia.
Kashif Chaudry
Head of Development
Kashif Chaudhry is currently a cardiac electrophysiologist in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He trained in Electrophysiology at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA and at the University of Maryland Medical center in Baltimore, MD. Kashif takes a keen interest in humanitarian work and first accompanied Project Pacer on its 2017 trip to Bolivia. His dream is to help bridge the gap in healthcare between the developed and developing world.
Oscar Ferrufino
Regional Contact Bolivia
Oscar Ferrufino is professor of Medicine at Seguro Social Universitario in Cochabamba, Bolivia, where he has an active clinical practice in cardiology. He has been responsible for the design and construction of the new hospital facility for Seguro Social as well as the planning for the new Viedma Hospital in Cochabamba. Dr. Ferrufino is a key figure for Project Pacer, he has been supporting and hosting medical missions to Bolivia for more than 20 years. During this time hundreds of indigent patients with Chagas Disease have received modern cardiac therapies.
